About Caoimhe

BIOGRAPHY:
Caoimhe began her musical journey at the age of five, studying classical piano performance to diploma level. Since then, she has established a successful and diverse career in music.
Caoimhe holds a B.A. in Performing Arts (majoring in voice) from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, followed by a Master's in Ethnomusicology, both of which she completed with first-class honours. She is currently finalizing her Ph.D., where her research focuses on the role of notation in classical music performance, informing both her performance and teaching practices.
As a performer, Caoimhe has travelled the world, performing as both a pianist and vocalist across Europe, America, and Africa. Her repertoire spans classical, jazz, and Irish traditional music. In addition to performing, Caoimhe is a songwriter and composer, often collaborating with other artists and media to produce original music and scores. Her compositions are featured in the 2024 and 2025 Royal Irish Academy of Music piano syllabus. She also serves as a music examiner for the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
Caoimhe is a qualified piano teacher, holding both performance and teaching diplomas (LLCM) from the London College of Music, University of West London. She has been teaching piano, voice, and music theory from her home studio in Limerick for over ten years, earning a reputation as a respected educator and musician. Additionally, she is a tutor and guest lecturer at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, where she teaches piano, voice, and music theory, including courses on composition in visual media and counterpoint. She has also lectured for the B.A. in Performing Arts, B.A. in World Music, M.A. in Irish Music, and M.A. in Composition and Creative Practice programs. Caoimhe is also a tutor with Music Generation, Limerick City, where she teaches piano and voice.
In her teaching, Caoimhe tailors lessons to suit the individual needs of her students, who range from beginners to advanced musicians of all ages. She emphasizes creativity and sound technique, fostering a holistic approach to music education. As a performer, she is known for her versatility, whether playing solo, as an accompanist, or as a session musician. Her performance experience also extends to creating arrangements, original compositions, and improvisations tailored to a variety of events and settings.
